We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer (Python) who would play a role in building the software backbone of innovative instruments control. Here you will be a part of the team developing an integrated system and will work closely with engineers specializing in mechanics, optics, electronics and embedded systems.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of software development experience.
- At least 2yr. experience with Python.
- Experience with FastAPI framework and Pydantic library.
- Experience with Python styling and type-safety toolkits (Pylint).
- A healthy attitude towards project documentation.
- Interest in scientific instrumentation.
- Good communication skills.
What makes you an exceptional candidate:
- Experience with physical system programming patterns (e.g. state machines).
- Experience with asynchronous programming (e.g. asyncio, aiohttp).
- Experience with Ubuntu OS, Linux kernel and device tree descriptors.
- Experience with AI frameworks and model deployment (Ollama, PyTorch, TensorRT, ONNX).
- Experience with AI tool orchestration (n8n, Langchain).
- Experience with vector databases (e.g. Qdrant, Milvus).
- Experience with embedded development or low-level languages.
- An engineering or scientific academic background.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing new backend software features related to instrument control, data analysis, AI model deployment and orchestration.
- Reacting to instrument software failures, fixing bugs and implementing automated quality control features.
- Multi-process software design, development, and documentation.
